Edit your NTNU homepage

All employees can now easily create and edit their own official NTNU homepage - in Norwegian and in English.

Employee home pages are normally created automatically shortly after you are employed at NTNU. On the top of the page is the information that has been entered into different NTNU databases, such as your office room, your telephone number and your position. You can enter information about yourself underneath this. The following shows you how.

1. Go to your employee page

To log into your employee home page:

  • Search for your own name in the search box at the top right hand side of NTNU.edu's home page: www.ntnu.edu
  • Click on your name when it comes up, and you will be brought to your home page.
  • Log into your page by clicking on the Log In link on the lower right hand side of the page.

You can also log in via Innsida, go to the drawdown menu on the right hand side (Innsida verktøy) and choose "Rediger din ansattside"-- in Norwegian, of course.

2. Sign in

To edit information on your employee home page, you have to sign in to Liferay, which you do by clicking on the "Sign in" link at the bottom right hand corner of the page.

If you want to edit the information on your Norwegian home page, click on the Norwegian flag on the upper right hand side of the page.

3. Edit and publish content

Click on "Edit web content" (English web pages) or  "Rediger artikkel" (Norwegian pages).

This brings you in to the text editor page where you can upload information, pictures, links to other web pages or blogs or other appropriate information. Some people include a brief biography or a list of publications as appropriate.

  • When you are done adding content to your page, click on the "Publish" link at the bottom of the page.

Klikk på "Redigere artikkel"

Note 1: You cannot edit the information that is in the upper part of the page (your name, telephone number and office number). This is information that has been retrieved from the university's central database. If there are errors in this information, you need to contact the personnel person in your department to get it fixed.

Note 2: If you copy information from another source (for example, from a Word document), you might find that the text appears in a font that is different from the usual font that is used by Liferay. It is better to type information directly into the form or copy it from a "Notepad" or another intermediary source that will essentially remove all the coding that might be attached by computer software such as Word.

4. Add a picture

To add a picture -- click on your name at the top of the page on the right. Here is where you can upload or change your picture. If you have a picture that you would like to use, you must first remove the existing picutre, click "Save" and then upload the new picture you want to use.

Note that the lower right-hand column when you are in "My profile" allows you to add a number of other bits of information to your page, including:

  • links to other home pages that you also use (choose "Websites")
  • links to social media you use (but you only need to add the last little bit of the address after the main address, such as the bit after www.facebook/com/......)

5. Sign out

The sign-out hotlink is found to the right of your name, at the very top of the web page. Click on that and you're done!

Wrong telephone or missing contact info?

Is there incorrect information on your personal homepage?  For example, if there is no office or telephone number listed:

  1. Check that you are correctly listed in the telephone catalogue (password required).
  2. Ensure that the email address listed in the telephone catalogue is your @ntnu.no address. Change a listing.
  3. Once your email address is correct in the telephone catalogue, the associated telephone and office information  will automatically be added to your profile (This takes approximately 24 hours).

Still need help? Please contact your department's personnel officer, local IT support or the webmaster at your faculty.

Employee overview lists - departments and sections

Automated lists of employees who work together in different divisions, groups or departments are often available on the department website. Example www.ntnu.edu/imt/contact/staff

Who is included in the overview?

  1. All permanent salaried employees are automatically included on this list.
(Exception: an employee can ask to hide their profile).

  2. Temporary employees,  including PhD fellows, can also be included on the list, but must be added manually by the list administrator.

Who administrates these lists?

This varies from group to group. Most commonly it is either:

  1. the personnel administrator for your department; or
  2. your department's local IT-support / webmaster.
