The IT regulations for NTNU can be found at: www.ntnu.no/adm/it/itreglementet. All use of computer systems and networks at NTNU is subject to the IT regulations.

IT security

During the semester there will be given a course in IT security. As this course presents important information regarding IT security, we recommend everybody to attend. Information about the course will be given at the NTNU intranet (see Innsida below). Information about IT security can also be found at: www.ntnu.no/itinfo/users/netiquette .

Wireless networks

The campuses at NTNU have almost full wireless coverage. The names of the networks are «eduroam», «ntnu» and «ntnuguest». For more information about how to connect, see:

Most of the city centre (Midtbyen) has network coverage through Wireless Trondheim. Use your NTNU username and password to log on. For more information see: tradlosetrondheim.no/index.php?la=en

Innsida and It’s learning

Innsida is the intranet at NTNU. Relevant information regarding your institute can be found at https://innsida.ntnu.no . The information is unfortunately only available in Norwegian at the moment. It’s learning is an e-learning system that can be accessed through Innsida. Information about Innsida, It’s learning and related problems can be found at:

E-mail

NTNU offers a Web based e-mail client available to students, see webmail.ntnu.no. More information about e-mail can be found at www.ntnu.no/itinfo/e-mail

Connect to NTNU at home

Internal resources, e.g. home directory and web directory, can be accessed from home through a VPN client. More information about VPN can be found here:

Available software

An overview of programs available at NTNU can be found at:

Many programs are available on CDs at the Orakel office at Gløshaugen and Dragvoll. Most programs can also be downloaded through the server Progdist. See: www.ntnu.no/itinfo/software/progdist/prodist_en.html

Home/Web directory

Students have access to a home directory that can be used for storage of files, and a Web directory that can be used to make a Web site. More information can be found at:

Computer labs

There are a number of computer labs at NTNU. Some of these are available for all students, but others are only for students at specific faculties. A list of available computer labs can be found at: www.ntnu.no/adm/it/orakel/datasaler

Printing at NTNU

On most computer labs, you must swipe your student card in a card reader at the printer to print. To print at Dragvoll you need to register your student card at www.svt.ntnu.no/kortregistrering
