Colour in the City

– Exhibition and conference

How important is colour for the visual perception of our urban environment and for the experience of its quality? What is the relationship between colour and materiality? What traditions do we build on and how is this changing? How does colour contribute to generating our sense of place and its identity? Who is responsible for influencing and enacting this? How should we address the tensions between preservation and the new? What challenges do we face in our colour environment with new buildings, materials and façade-technologies? What are the examples of good practice?

These questions and many more are the motivation for this exhibition and seminar organized by the Light & Colour Group from the Department of Architectural Design, Form and Colour Studies at the Faculty for Architecture and Fine Art, NTNU.

Curators and organizers: Prof. Alex Booker. Prof. Barbara Matusiak. Assistant Prof. Kine Angelo.
