Welcome to the

Plant Biocentre Group

The Plant Biocentre is located at Dragvoll University Campus, NTNU. The Plant Biocentre is a branch of the Department of Biology, Faculty of Natural Sciences and Technology at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), Trondheim, Norway.

The education of MSc and PhD students within the areas of molecular biology, cell biology and plant physiology are main goals of the centre. Other activities at the centre are basic and applied science within areas of agricultural research and space related biology.

The Plant Biocentre consists of laboratories, a greenhouse and a field cultivation area. The laboratory facilities have separate divisions for sterile cultivation of plant- and animal cell cultures, including tissue culture growth room, and research facilities for chemical analysis, molecular- and cell biology and plant physiology. The climatized greenhouse has controlled test rooms and an isolated GMO (Gene Modified Organism) unit. The field cultivation area (40.000 m2) includes area licensed for organic cultivation.

Located at the Plant Biocentre is also CIRiS (Center for Integrated Research in Space), through NTNU Samfunnsforskning AS.
