2. Protocol and project application

Before a medical or health research project starts, it must be approved by the regional committee for medical and health research ethics (REK) and, if applicable, by any other approval authorities. Approval is based on the application and research protocol. This applies to both collaborative research ("bidragsforskning", where the researchers own the results), and commissioned or contract research ("oppdragsforskning", where the commercial partner owns the results).

Do you have a combined position at the Faculty of Medicine and St. Olav's Hospital? Remember that in most cases you must specify both of the institutions as entities responsible for the research when you apply to the REK. Procedures for collaborative and multi-centre projects

The project manager is responsible for preparing the research protocol and application, as well as for submitting it with attachments to the REK.
