English Semester

The 7th semester of the Medical Doctor Programme is taught in English, and is open for qualified exchange students.

The main clinical subjects of this semester will be obstetrics, gynaecology, paediatrics, child and adolescent psychiatry, endocrinology, kidneys and urinary system. The subjects dealt with, will be the following methods:

LECTURES
The first week will consist of introductory lectures in all subjects. Each subsequent week will cover separate subjects with corresponding lectures. In the last week of the semester, lecture-time is allocated to 'student requests', i.e., any concepts or topics the students wish to review.

CLINICAL CLERKSHIP
Every week, each PBL working group will be assigned a department for 'clinical clerkship'. In the clerkship students accompany doctors for in- and out-patient visits, examining patients, tutorials and case-studies. The elements of the clerkship vary between departments. The duration of the clerkships is given below:

In addition to the organised clerkship, students may at any time join the doctors on call.

PBL SESSIONS
The students will be divided into working groups of six to eight members. They will be meeting once a week for 3-hour sessions. Each session will centre on a case study relevant to the clerkship of the week. Clinicians from the corresponding departments will attend the sessions as facilitators.

All PBL-sessions are mandatory.

Non-Disclosure Agreement

All medical students have to sign a non-disclosure agreement when they arrive in Trondheim. The signed agreement must be handed in to the Section of Student and Academic Affairs at the Faculty of Medicine. Download the non-disclosure agreement here
