Admission to International MSc Programmes at the Faculty of Medicine

This information is for applicants who are Norwegian or Nordic residents, and who do not need to apply for a visa or residence permit in Norway. The webpage is also available in Norwegian.

Specific Recognition of Educational Background
All Nordic applicants who have taken their bachelor's degree (or other 3-year equivalent) at institutions outside of Norway must apply for a specific recognition of their educational background. The Faculty of Medicine will examine your background, and decide whether it meets the specific academic requirements in terms of scope and depth.

To apply for specific recognition, you must fill out a form (see box in the right-hand menu) and attach relevant documentation (e.g. diploma, transcript of records and course descriptions). The deadline for submitting the form is 1 March.

Please note that the form should be submitted in addition to your application for admission.

How to Apply for Admission
The application deadline is 1 March (if you have a first degree from an institution outside of Norway) or 15 April (if you have a first degree from Norway). Applicants who have a Norwegian National Identity Number ("personnummer") can submit an application electronically at StudentWeb. Applicants who do not have a Norwegian National Identity Number must contact the Admission Office at NTNU to get a paper form.

If you have not yet finished your first degree, you can forward your final diploma and transcript of records by 1 July. You will know whether you are accepted around 20 July. The classes start in mid-August.
