I am a PhD candidate in industrial ecology.

In my PhD research project, I am studying life cycle resource use and emissions associated with large-scale adoptions of wind power. At its core, the research is based on life cycle assessment (LCA) and input-output analysis (IOA). In assessing the environmental implications of wind power development, my research aims to move beyond making unit-based assessments to study aggregated impacts at the macro level.

The motivation for my PhD research project is threefold: 1) Documenting the technology's environmental performance, and, possibly, its superiority over competing options. 2) Contributing to a more complete understanding of system-wide effects of the anticipated shift towards renewable energy supply. 3) Developing system designs and strategies for maximizing the environmental benefits of energy systems in general, and wind energy in particular.

I have previously performed a study on direct and indirect environmental impacts associated with household consumption in Beijing. I hold an MSc in Energy and Environmental Engineering from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (2008), with industrial ecology as main field of study.
