Research and teaching
Associate professor Berit Bungum works within physics and technology education. This include research on students motivation for choosing to study science, illustrations I physics textbooks in a historical perspective, space technology as a context for teaching mechanics, teaching of design and technology in compulsory school, and implementation of ‘Technology and Theory of Research’ as a new subject in upper secondary school. Research is undertaken in co-operation with colleagues at the Department of Chemistry, NTNU, and at Finnmark University College.More about current research projects.
Bungum’s teaching responsibilities are within initial teacher education, courses on research methods and science education for master student and on phd level. She is also editor of the Nordic journal of science education, NorDiNa, see http://www.naturfagsenteret.no/tidsskrift/nordina_english.html
The section currently has two phd students in science education: Hanne Mehli (NTNU) and Bjørn-Tore Esjeholm (Finnmark University college). They are doing their degree within our new phd program in science education at the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Technology, see http://www.ntnu.no/studies/science-education/phd
The section also has Phil Scott from Leeds University employed as an adjunct professor in physics education.
