Professor at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) since 2002 and is currently Head of department of Electric Power Engineering. He holds a part-time position at SINTEF Energy as Scientific Advisor. Before 2002 he worked at SINTEF Energy on development of methods/principles for utilization of renewable energy in electricity markets and transmission network utilization. Currently he is a project manager on a 4-year project on wind energy integration in a hydro dominated environment. Member of many international working groups, and he is currently chairman of CIGRE SC C5 Electricity Markets and Regulation and member of CIGRE Technical Committee. He is the NTNU's Board member of NOWITECH (Norwegian Research Centre for Offshore Wind Technology) and  the Deputy Board member of SINTEF Energy. He is also responsible at NTNU for the new Erasmus Mundus Program on Wind Energy. Thus is a program operated jointly with DTU (Denmark), TU Delft (Netherland) and University of Oldenburg (Germany). The research activities involve offshore grid and market integration of intermittent generation.
