Aero- and gasdynamics

Aero-dynamics is a generic term for the knowledge of forces and movements in gases. The opposite is hydrodynamics, which describes movements in fluids.

Traditionally, aerodynamics is associated with aviation, which is a narrow definition.

Our group has aerodynamic research related to:

  • Transport

(Flow and forces which acts on boats and flow connected to astronautics)

  • Buildings constructions

(static and dynamic forces on bridges and building, ventilation of road-tunnels),

  • Sport and aerodynamic problems connected to renewable energy
  • Windturbines and tidal powerplants.


The work is both theoretical, numerical as well as experimental research in our large laboratory.

Out in the open
