The Virtual Reality Lab (VR) provides NTNU and partners with the opportunity to work with a simulated reality in education and research in all relevant fields.
This also serves the research within ICT.
Reconfigurable Advanced Visualization Environment (RAVE) from Fakespace System is one of the most advanced VR facilities for civil use available in the world. The lab is funded by Norsk Hydro and the Research Council of Norway, and the primary purpose of the lab is to strengthen education and R&D within petroleum engineering. Real data from the Gullfaks field is used, giving students virtual hands on experiences in their education.
The VR lab is connected to the Department of Petroleum Engineering and Applied Geophysics, and the Department of Computer and Information Science. These two departments collaborate with several other departments at NTNU.
SINDET Unimed, Norsk Hydro ASA, Ceetron A.S, and Inside Reality. The collaboration may be extended.
