Biodiversity

Biodiversity is an important asset from nature.

Unfortunately, biodiversity is lost at a rapid pace, due to different anthropogenic disturbances, including climate change, habitat conversion and fragmentation, introduction of invasive species, pollution and overexploitation of ecosystems. It is therefore necessary to develop tools that allow assessing impacts of anthropogenic origin on ecosystems, in order to quantify and highlight negative consequences of anthropogenic actions.

At IndEcol we develop, within the framework of life cycle assessment (LCA), novel approaches to assess impacts from anthropogenic disturbances (such as energy production or habitat conversion) on ecosystems and biodiversity.
