Geriatrics

Geriatrics covers physical, mental, functional and social conditions affecting elderly people. Many geriatric patients can be characterised as frail and have complex health issues requiring a holistic approach.

Our research includes investigations into the medical treatment of acute and chronic conditions, rehabilitation, prevention of disease and disability, and end-of-life care.

The research group for geriatrics is interdisciplinary and currently focuses on three areas:

  1. Reduced mobility and falls
  2. Cognitive decline and dementia
  3. The development of care pathways for elderly patients
