New tax card rules

(30.01.2012) As of 1 February 2012, new non-Norwegian arrivals in Norway who need a tax card or need to register their move to Norway with the authorities must do so in person. The reason for the new regulations is to increase security and reduce the incidence of false identities, the Norwegian Tax Administration said in its contact with the university.

This requirement does not apply to foreign nationals who are already established in Norway and who receive tax cards in the mail from the Norwegian Tax Administration.
