The center was established by NTNU, SINTEF and IFE, in collaboration with major international oil companies and suppliers, and cooperates with Stanford, Carnegie-Mellon, Delft and Kyoto universities. [ see organization for details ]
NTNU, SINTEF and IFE have a significant project portfolio already of ongoing research within Integrated Operations of about NOK 40 millions annually, ranging from fundamental research to contract projects. These projects will continue to be an important R&D platform for the IO Center.

The co-operation between the IO Center and DNV was one of several projects presented in the meeting.
The feedback from CEO Henrik Madsen and Managing director, Research and innovation Elisabeth Harstad was that all the co-operation programs between DNV and NTNU are demonstrating a good progress.
30 representatives from the industrial partners and 25 research scientists were gathered to evaluate ongoing research activities. TC gave their recommendations on further research to the upcoming Board meeting on June 10.-11. One of the major issues for this meeting was enhanced collaboration between research activities across the value chain steps from reservoir to process facilities. The meeting focused on integration of work processes as a key starting point for integrating other aspects of the operations, such as technological elements and information systems.
A total of 65 mill. NOK will be granted for new projects next year. For more information, read more at Forskningsrådet (Norwegian Research Council) :
Presentations were given from the Tail project, Integrated Operations High North, IRIS, IO Center and RCN/Petromaks.
