Machine Tool Laboratory
The Machine Tool Laboratory is the largest laboratory, in terms of the number of machines and the activity at the department. The laboratory contains machines and equipment that is typical of a modern mechanical workshop, and is used for experimental research on varying methods for material cutting and processing. Examples of such methods are turning, milling, and electro-drawing machining. The research activity is conducted in close copperation with Norwwegian companies, such as for example: Volvo Aero Norge, Teeness, Raufoss Technology, etc.

Advanced machining is one of the department's focus areas. For the machining of products with complex geometric forms we use modern programming methods and high precision milling machines. Productivity, precision and flexibility in machine tools and control systems is vital for a company's ability to deliver good products at the right time and price.
