The Department of Language and Communication Studies
Language is a unique and fascinating ability in humans. Many aspects of human language, speech and communication have still not been explored. The Department of Language and Communication Studies is a meeting place for people who are interested in language and verbal communication. Staff and students explore this realm from different angles.
We are responsible for research and teaching in the following six areas:
- Applied linguistics (verbal communication)
- Phonetics
- Linguistics
- Swahili
- Norwegian as a second language (second language theory, for example, for those who need to relate to people who speak a foreign language)
- Norwegian for Foreigners
