Norwegian perspective on Hydropower Development

Experience from more than a hundred years of hydropower development is presented for the first time in a series of books dealing with the total sphere of topics involved.

Traditionally, knowledge about hydropower planning and development has been transferred to younger professionals through their close and continuous working relationships with older colleagues. Not all of this knowledge has been properly documented, and there are few recent books covering all the themes. We have set out to change that, and the result is this series of seventeen up-to-date volumes on hydropower development.

Although hydropower technology is a global one, the series reflects Norwegian experience. This is due to Norway's special topography, geology and climate. Setting out Norwegian hydropower experience will be of great value to engineers engaged in the planning, construction and operation of hydropower plants all over the world.

About the volumes in the series

A complete list of volumes is to be found below, along with the Table of Contents for each volume. Each volume deals with a separate topic. The necessary theoretical foundation of each topic is set out and followed by a description of how this is applied in practice.

The series is planned so that volumes can be combined to meet the needs of different groups of readers. Most of the content in each volume has not been published before. This means that when planning a complete course in hydropower engineering, this series can act as a supplement to conventional textbooks.

The full set of 17 were published by the end of year 2003.
