On behalf of the Norwegian Geotechnical Society, I have the pleasure of inviting you to attend the second International Workshop on Landslides in Sensitive Clays (IWLSC).
The theme of the 2nd IWLSC is “from theory to implementation.” It is about bridging the gaps between research and practice, which is the key to greater advances in the geotechnical engineering as such. This workshop will aim to bridge the gaps between young geo-professionals and seniors working on landslide in sensitive clays.
This workshop is the second in the IWLSC series. The first IWLSC workshop was held in 2013 in Quebec City, Canada. The 2nd IWLSC aims to provide an international perspective of landslides in sensitive clays and their consequences by bringing together state-of-the-art contributions from international researchers in the academia and in the industry, as well as planners working on land‐use and hazard mapping. The symposium shall provide a broad coverage of the scientific and engineering aspects of geo-hazards related to sensitive clays.
The workshop themes will include; Sensitive clay’s source, nature, development, characterization and extent; slope development and processes; triggering of landslides; post-failure behaviour and landslide morphology; modeling and slope stability assessment; geotechnical and geophysical investigations; risk assessment framework; landslide precursors and early warning systems; stabilizing methods in sensitive clays; climate change; submarine slides in sensitive sediments.
Please join the 2nd IWLSC. You can contact me at email@example.com in case you have some suggestions/feedback wrt the theme and format of the 2nd IWLSC. We look forward to having the pleasure of welcoming you all to Trondheim.
With best regards
