The Vanglund research award in medical technology
The research prize is normally awarded according to the following criteria:
*The prize is awarded to one or more researchers who have conducted excellent research and published the results in an international journal. The research prize is awarded on the basis of one academic publication.
The work must be within the academic scope of the strategic area of research Medical Technology at NTNU
*The objective of Medical Technology as a strategic area of research is to produce, develop and test new technological methods, materials and equipment for use in medical prevention, diagnostics, treatment and rehabilitation.
*The work must have been performed at one or more research institutions in Trondheim.
*The work must have been published during the previous calendar year.
The deadline for nominations was 1 April 2009 and the research award was announced on 3 June 2009
Proposals for candidates must include concise reasons and published work. It is emphasized that it is an individual study published during 2008 that will be considered. The list of applicants is exempt from public access.
The management group of the Medical Technology strategic area of research establishes a national committee for the professional judgement of the applications, and the management group decides who is to receive the prize.
The research prize was announced and awarded at an NTNU ceremony on 3 June 2009.
The prize is financed by Vangslund AS. Vangslund AS is the continuation of Medisinsk teknisk forskningssenter i Trondheim AS, which realized the research centre in medical technology at the university hospital. The company is currently a part-owner of the Medisinsk Teknisk Senter.
