Department of Materials Science and Engineering
The Department of Materials Science and Engineering (DMSE) is Norway's leading institution for materials science and engineering.
DMSE includes a range of fields in physical and process metallurgy, with a focus on light metals and silicon, including solar-grade silicon, corrosion, electrochemical energy technology, inorganic materials, ceramics and nano-structured materials.
Approximately 15 PhD candidates graduate from DMSE annually. DMSE has several large ongoing projects, including in cooperation with Norwegian industry and foreign partners.
DMSE has several MSc programmes that graduate as many as 60 candidates annually. The programmes are comprised of MSc degrees in Materials Science and Engineering, Materials Chemistry and Energy Technology. There is also an international MSc programme in Light Metals Production.
