Examinations

You have to register for the exams at StudentWeb before 15. February (Spring Semester) and 15. September (Autumn Semester).

Examinations
Levels 1-4: 
The examination consists of a written and an oral part. Separate grades are given for the written and the oral exam. In the combined grade the written exam counts 2/3 while the oral exam counts 1/3. Both the written and the oral exam need to be passed in order to pass the exam. If you want to resit the examination, please note that both parts has to be retaken.

The written exam covers dictation, grammar and free writing. Dictionaries are not allowed.

Short course:
The examination consists of a written exercice (passed/not passed)

Credits
Levels 1-4 give 15 credits (15 ECTS)
Short course gives 7,5 credits  (7,5 ECTS)

Postponed Exam
There is a postponed Exam each Semester. In case of illness or examination collision you may apply to sit for the postponed Exam.

Residential permit

To obtain a permanent residential permit you need to have passed Level 2 or 3. You can order an examination transcript from Studweb or from the Student Service Centre.

NTNU language course level 1 hours are not recognized as valid in order to obtain a residential permit in Norway.
