Zeiss LSM 800

– Confocal microscope

The LSM 800 is equipped for a wide range of applications and techniques, including:

  1. Airyscan detector for improved resolution in 3D
  2. Emmision fingerprinting
  3. Time lapse imaging of live cells
  4. Differential interference contrast (DIC), in combination with fluorescence
  5. Polarised light microscopy

  1. Heating inserts for Lab-Tek chambers, object slides and petri dishes.

  • The MP laser is a pulsed (80 MHz) TiSp-laser MIRA-900-F from Coherent.
  • An acousto-optical tunable filter (AOTF) controls the intensity of the excitation laser light.
  • An acousto-optic-modulator (AOM) is used to control the intensity of the MP laser.

Scanner

Conventional scanner, maximum 2.6 frames/sec at 512 x 512 pixels image format.

Internal detectors

Reflection/fluorescence mode:

  • 2 x PMT (standard photomultiplier tube).
  • META detector for spectral imaging, up to 8 channels with configurable emission filters.

The ConfoCor2 module for FCS

  • External detectors: 2 x APD (avalanche photo diodes)
  • Filters for emission ranging from the blue to the far red region.

The MP system

  • The MP laser for two-photon or SHG imaging.
  • External non-descanned detectors:
    1. 2 x PMT in the reflection mode.
    2. 2 x PMT in the transmission mode.
  • One filtercube for each mode with filters:
    1. BP's 385-425, 500-550 and 575-640 nm in reflection mode.
    2. BP's 385-425, 575-640 nm and KP 685 nm in transmission mode.
