Housing help for NTNU employees

NTNU has gathered information about housing and housing information on this residential portal to provide a comprehensive overview of the services that are available from NTNU and private organizations. This page contains information about NTNU housing, the NTNU/SINTEF Housing Foundation, housing assistance from Studieby'en and information about the private housing market.

NTNU wants to have a good working relationship with private landlords to meet the demand for housing, and relies in part on the people of Trondheim open their homes. That's part of what makes Trondheim Norway's number one student city! Staff and students are encouraged to advertise the rental of their homes on Oppslagstavla, the NTNU internal bulletin board, or contact NTNU Housing or Studieby'en in connection with an exchange year, sabbatical or an extended research visits. Private landlords in Trondheim are encouraged to contact Studieby'en or NTNU Housing if they can offer rental housing to NTNU staff and/or students.

NTNU's housing policy - private housing
A part of the university's international strategy is to recruit outstanding scientists and academics. NTNU's housing policy says that permanent or temporary foreign employees and visiting scientists who will spend more than 1 month at NTNU should have an accommodation offer when they arrive at NTNU. This may be either in housing owned by NTNU or in privately owned housing. This housing is primarily intended to cover the need for transitional housing (up to 3 months) and short-term housing (up to 1 year), but is not intended to be permanent housing. The assignment of the university's own housing is via NTNU's Housing service. There is contact information in the box to the right.

The following criteria will be used in the allocation of NTNU housing:

  1. Foreign workers with families from countries with a visa requirement.
  2. Foreign workers with families from countries outside of the Nordic countries that do not have a visa requirement.
  3. Foreign employees without families from countries with a visa requirement.
  4. Foreign employees without families from countries from outside of the Nordic region that do not have a visa requirement.
