Registering with Immigration
What you need to know:
- In general, you have to register within 7 days of your arrival in Norway at the Immigration Office at the Police Department in Trondheim. Make an appointment online to register.
- EU citizens do not need to apply for a work permit, but need to register at the Immigration Office at the Police Department in Trondheim.
- Non-EU citizens that already have a work permit granted by Norwegian embassy/consulate, need to register at the Immigration Office in Trondheim, in within 7 days of their arrival in Norway.

Appointments by telephone possible
You can also make an appointment by calling 73 89 94 40. This number is in service Mondays to Thursdays from 0900-1130.
You should make an appointment well in advance, before you need to obtain or renew your permit,. Because the demand for appointments is very high, you may not be able to get an appointment right away.
