Registering with Immigration
To register with Immigration, and to make a first-time permit application, you must go to Counter C, in the main Immigration Office at the Trondheim Police Department. The office is open from Mondays through Thursdays from 0900 to 1400, and is closed Fridays.
You must get a queue number for Counter C from the machine in the front lobby of the Police Department. Especially during busy times of the year, a line may form outside of the building well before 0800, so plan on devoting some time to the process.
You must also go to Counter C to pick up your passport the first time you are granted a work/residency permit.
Counter B, in the main lobby of the Trondheim Police Department, is open every Tuesday 0900-1400 to hand in passports for permit renewals, and for passport pick up, once the Immigration Office has pasted in a new permit (renewals only, which typically take one week to process).
Information is also available by telephone at 73 89 94 40, but this number is only staffed on Mondays through Thursdays from 0900-1130.
The Immigration Office is co-located with the Trondheim Police Department at Gryta 4, in downtown Trondheim.
