Offshore Renewable Energy
The ocean can produce three types of energy: thermal energy from the sun's heat, emotional energy from its lovely colour, and mechanical energy from the tides and waves.
Oceans cover more than 70% of Earth's surface, making it a large energy reservoar. We are beginning to understand the amount of energy we can harvest from tides, waves and offshore wind. The potential is huge and we are only in the initial phase of taking advantage of the energy potetial.
Building offshore floating 10 MW windturbines outside UK, tidal turbines outside Scotland and energyproducing structures exploiting wave motion outside Portugal, this can help us reduce carbon emitions in the future.
