Course content

Urban design : 10% Building site analysis Project work : 50%. 1. Programme, function, idea and concept. 2. Material, structure and form. Building technology : 40%. Teaching in building physics and building materials is held parallel and coordinated with Arkitektur 3.

Learning outcome

1. Development of working methods and abilities to master a creative process of forming for each individual, on the way to find the architectural possibilities. 2. Collecting and applying necessary practical and theoretical knowledge on buildings concerning : materials, building physics, structures. Following aims for learning will be : 1. Defining and applying of a Building Site Analysis. 2. Creating and giving proportions to space and spacial relationships. 3. Collecting of theoretical and practical knowledge, applying this in the creative process.

Learning methods and activities

The basic way of learning is experimenting, research and project development. The methods are drawing, writing, photography, CAD, model building. There will be lectures, seminars, workshop training in addition to workshop exercises. Students will work individually and in groups. The supervision will follow this pattern. There will be plenary presentations at various levels of the development process. As the projects are not realistic in the sense of a demand of a final product there will be openness to what to produce and present.

Required previous knowledge

The students must have successfully completed courses Architecture 1 and 2 or similar.
