Course content
Architectural design med focus on synthesis skills of following aspects.
URBAN DESIGN: 15%
Contextual analyses and master plan evaluation.
Application of given context
ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN: 45%
Architectural space and room typology. Sculptural building composition. Programming, functionality, idea and concept. Structural elements and building parts. Materiality, scale and modules.
Ethics, environment and resources
Building regulations, fire and security precaution. Project and design management. Digital and conventional design tools. Architectural presentation.
TECHNOLOGY: 30%
Building structures and construction, building materials. Technical infrastructure/air, water, lighting, heating and acoustical environment.
FORM AND COLOUR: 10%
Colours and materials in architecture. Project presentation and visual communication.
Learning outcome
The course gives a basic introduction to all aspects of designing a big project, based on a complex program.
The student is trained in the task of integrating all elements of a larger building into an architectonic unity, inclosing programatic demands, technical solutions, laws and regulations, energy consumption, materiality and architectural form - all based on a conseptual idea.
The project lasts through the whole semester. The buildings program is normally in an urban context and is connected to public, cultural, research, educational, og business themes.
Learning methods and activities
Lectures, seminars and workshops, parallell with the students own sketching on and developing their concept. The teaching are mainly groupwise and individual tutoring with public asessments at the different stages of the project

Admission to a programme of study is required:
Arkitektur - masterstudium (5-årig) (MAAR)
Recommended previous knowledge
Required study competence: Architecture 1-5 or equivalent.
