About the course
Course content
A building is to be designed up to the pre-project stage. The design work is to be based on a complete program or a programming phase in AAR4870 with topics from cultural life, the health and social sector, education and research, administration, trade and industry. The course includes in-depth elements for study in construction composition, room typology and the design of building elements.
Learning outcome
The course is to give insight into practical utilization of design methods as well as experience from the design of a major and complex building in an urban environment. The emphasis is on total architectonic solutions. The course is a continuation of AAR4465 Architecture 6.
Learning methods and activities
The course starts with an introductory period in which the subject is addressed in cooperation with specialists and users. Excursions and seminars are held with visits to relevant places and construction sites. The project work is to be done on an individual basis, but part of the study is group based. General and thematic lectures and colloquia. Lessons will be given in English if some international students follow the course.

Required previous knowledge
Completed three years basic courses in architecture, bachelor in architecture or equivalent. The course is a main element in combination with AAR4870 Architectural Design and Programming that has to be taken in the same semester. Registration deadline. 15. may.
