About the course
Course content
The subject will focus on the development of building projects and the active role and the tasks for architects from early concept/ idea phase. This covers organization and management issues, the building process, cost calculation and analysis, time scheduling and documentation, and handling information through the building process. The main part of the course will be on transformation of existing buildings or real estate, also seen in a more broader context. In these cases several different alternatives will be analysed and discussed. The subject gives knowledge in use of different ICT- tools in both design and management, and use of 3D modelling and visualizing of the projects. Calculation and cost analysis of building projects, development schedule of building projects, and other architect related tasks would be included in the teaching. Marketing and communication in projects will be emphased.
Learning outcome
The subject is to give knowledge about the role and the different administrative and professional tasks that are the responsibility of the architect in a building development project, with emphasis on the early stages of the project development.
Learning methods and activities
Lectures and workshops. Exercises are accomplished individually or in groups.

Required previous knowledge
Completed three years basic courses in architecture, bachelor in architecture or equivalent. The subject is to be taken in connection with AAR4828 Real Estate Development. Registration deadline: 15. may.
