About the course

Course content

The Student will work with a serie of short, limited design tasks in order to try out important architectural means. This process ends up with a main design task, a small building that is developed and detailed. The brief is given by the teacher. The student develops an understanding of the wide range of possible use of wood as main material i a building.

Learning outcome

The Student should develop a thorough knowledge about the spesific architectural means related to wood, and be able to apply this knowledge on a building task.
The Student should develop her/his ability to analyse a task, based on functional and contextual patametres, and apply this in a building design based on the use of wood.
This means also an understanding of how to connect to other materials.
The students are expected to cultivate an architectural expression that is concistent with the aim of his/her project idea

Learning methods and activities

Architectural Design of concrete buildings in different sizes and scales, group discussions and individual guidance.

The theory course Wooden Architecture B is mandatory.

Required previous knowledge

Completed three years basic courses in architecture, bachelor in architecture or equivalent. The Design Course must be taken together with AAR4881 Wooden architecture B. Registration deadline: 15. may.
