Course content
Central themes are wooden architecture, site analysis,form, space, the properties of wooden materials, chemical and mechanical protection of wooden materials, one-to-one building, static priciples of wooden constructions and their influence on the architectural expression.
Learning outcome
The course gives the student experience with design based on the properties of the wooden material and their influence on the structural system, detailing and architectural expression.
Learning methods and activities
The course consists mainly of design asignments. The previous years the theme of the course has been wooden bridges, but it can also be other large wooden structures where the structural system is important to the architectural expression.
Required previous knowledge
Completed three years basic courses in architecture, bachelor in architecture or equivalent.
The course is 100% integrated with AAR4885 Wooden constructions B and must be taken in combination with this. The evaluation of both courses is based on the planning assignment of this course. Registration deadline: 15. may.
