About the course

Course content

With the near connection to realistic problems in real settings, the ability to form urban space strategically and aesthetically will be developed. By this, topics such as understanding of “place”, designing of public areas, understanding of functional claims and sustainability in urban design will be central. Through various analysis and “place” interpretations there will be created strategies for development of a functional urban setting, good urban struktures and good urban forms.

Presentation of planning result to people concerned and others is part of the course.

Learning outcome

To give advanced knowledge and abilities within urban design by doing realistic projects in a realistic setting.

Learning methods and activities

Lectures, workshops, excursions, teaching, group work. Lessons will be given in English if some international students follow the course.

Required previous knowledge

Completed three years basic courses in architecture, bachelor in architecture or equivalent. Registration deadline: 15. november.
