Course content
The course objective will be to explore the relations between a building, the workspace and the individual worker seen in relation to new trends in organization development and architecture / design. A basic assumption is that all organizations are comprised of four elements; knowledge management, ICT, organization and physical environment.
The course will give training in working with users, defining objectives, activities, working processes and relations, and make proposals for relevant architectural concepts and solutions. The users and the use of the building or work space will therefor be in focus.
Emphasis will be given to case studies focusing on how different companies and organizations develop and manage their real estate. The project assignments might be evaluation of existing buildings and development of new office solutions, new concept for health services etc.
Learning outcome
The subject is to give knowledge about the relations between a building, the workspace and the individual worker and the different tasks for an architect and/or a real estate manager. Focus will be on spaceplanning and management in a change perspective.
Learning methods and activities
Lectures, seminars and workshops. Exercises are accomplished individually or in groups.
Required previous knowledge
Completed three years basic courses in architecture, bachelor in architecture or equivalent. The course must be taken together with AAR4950 Programming and Evaluation of buildings in use. (POE) Registration deadline: 15. november.
