About the course
Course content
The content of the course is related to the development of modern housing mainly in Europe, as well as theoretical perspectives on housing cultures. Premises for modern housing production and the strategic role of housing in societal development will be discussed.
The will also include an introduction to the writing of a scientific text.
Recommended design studio is AAR 4510 Housing Design.
Learning outcome
The objective is to develop an understanding for the relationship between political and cultural conditions and the production of housing as well as an understanding of the role of housing in societal development.
Learning methods and activities
The course will consist of lectures and seminars in addition to compulsory assignments. An essay within a topic agreed upon shall be submitted and presented by the end of the semester.

Recommended previous knowledge
Knowledge within architecture/planning, or social sciences such as sociology, anthropology, environmental psychology.
Required previous knowledge
Completed three years basic courses in architecture, bachelor in architecture or equivalent. Registration deadline: 1. juni.
