Course content
Theory of conservation. Field work consists of: Survey and measured drawing, use of documents found in archives, examination of technical conditions of buildings, building archaeology.
Learning outcome
The unit is an introduction to the central theories and methods in conservation, and how knowledge gained through the use of these methods can form a basis for planning and design work on existing buildings.
Learning methods and activities
Lectures, field work with practical exercises and demonstrations, and self-tuition. In addition to the resident teachers, invited professionals from various fields relevant to the course unit will be lecturers. Lessons will be given in English if some international students follow the course.

Required previous knowledge
Completed three years basic courses in architecture, bachelor in architecture or equivalent. Relevant for students in course program "Real Estate and Facilities Management".
