About the course

Course content

What is GIS? Organizing and modeling of spatial data, attribute data bases, acquiring and editing of spacial data, analysis principles and analytical modeling of areas and terrain, presentation and layout of spacial data as maps and other visualizations. Use of standard Norwegian map data and thematical databases with two and three dimensional tools for handling of vector and raster data in ArcGis.

Learning outcome

Knowledge about geographical information systems (GIS) as an important tool in physical planning. Introduction and training with ArcGis.

Learning methods and activities

Lectures and concentrated training workshops.
