About the course

Course content

The course gives an introduction to scientific method and a deeper introduction and training in architectonic design methods. The course will also give an introduction to professional design prosesses for architects.

Learning outcome

The students shall be able to develop their own formulation on an architectonic problem and choose a relevant design method. The students shall have an insight into the professional proscess of architectural design.

Learning methods and activities

The course is organized in two parts. The first part on scientific methods is arranged in collaboration with the masterprograms in urban ecological planning and in physical planning in addition to phd teachings. The second part on design methods and professional design proscesses for architects is arranged by the masterprogram in architecture.
Lectures and litterature studies will give an introduction on the topic. Writing exercises will give practical methodologic training. The final rapport can be used as preliminary study and task formulation for the master thesis in architecture.

Required previous knowledge

Completed three years basic courses in architecture, bachelor in architecture or equivalent.
