About the course

Course content

This theoretical course is part of the Designcourse AAR4602 Architectural Design -Triple Architecture. The Course focuses on design methods and the systematic analytical work involved in design of large buildings. This includes architectural expression, tectonical aspects, contextual implementations, esthetical principles of order with reference to and appraisal of modern architecture.

Learning outcome

The course is to give insight in design process and develop a conciousness about the challenges and important sides of creating architecture - from concept to finished project. Studentene should achieve an overview of moderne norwegian anad foreign works that are relevant for the framework of this course.
Recommended supplementary courses are AAR4950 Programming and evaluation of Buildings, AAR4960 Virtual building or AAR4935 Light and Space

Learning methods and activities

The course is coordinated with the Design course and consists of lectures, seminars and workshops. An excursion, visiting relevant places and buildings, is part of the course. A compendium documenting this are compiled by the students

Required previous knowledge

Completed three years basic courses in architecture, bachelor in architecture or equivalent. Basic knowledge of architecture, equivalent to course AAR4465 Architectural Design of Large Buildings. Registration deadline: 1. december.
