About the course

Course content

Recent planning history and urban design theories - partly starting with areas of knowledge outside the profession of architecture where the ethical implications of urban design theories are focused. It is recommended to take this course together with Urban Design II.

Learning outcome

Communicate understanding of theoretical frameworks for today's urban planning.

Learning methods and activities

Lectures, reading material and seminars. A few guest lecturers.

The grade is given on the basis of three short essays with background i the course literature.
Lessons will be given in English if some international students follow the course.

Required previous knowledge

Completed three years basic courses in architecture, bachelor in architecture or equivalent. The student should have completed the basic course Arkitektur 5, Town and City planning and ATH b or equivalent. Building engineer students who want to take the course should have completed the course Local physical planning or equivalent. Registration deadline: 1. december.
