About the course

Course content

The design process is the basis for an optimal construction process and an end-product according to the requirements of the client and the society. The course shall give an introduction to design management, decision making, coordination and planning related to requirements from the site, the production, clients and public authorities. Available "tools", concept options and optimisation of costs and technology will be treated. Design management related to various contract types will be a main topic.
The course will be in cooperation with course TBA4127 Design Management at Faculty of Engineering Science & Technology.

Learning outcome

Give the students basic knowledge about execution and management of the design process for building projects.

Learning methods and activities

Lectures, exercises and hands-on examples in cooperation with representatives from the construction industry in Norway. The exercises will be related to current projects. If there is a re-sit examination, the examination form may be changed from written to oral.

Required previous knowledge

Completed three years basic courses in architecture, bachelor in architecture or equivalent. Registration deadline: 1. december.
