About the course

Course content

The course is compulsory for students who wants a Bachelor's degree in social science with a major in African Studies. The essay shall document maturity, knowledge of and insight into central themes. The essay deals with a theme which is announced early in the semester and will normally be connected with the teaching in AFR 2110/AFR2120. Counselling and guidance to the writing process is available in plenary seminars.

Learning outcome

To develop independent skills in in-depth understanding, discussion and written exposition of selected themes which deal with African social life.

Learning methods and activities

Lectures and seminars. The student is obliged to give an oral presentation of his/her essay during the semester.
