About the course
Course content
The course is focused upon fish reproductive strategies, spawning biology, embryonic development, early life history and functional development of different types of fish larvae. Within this context fish will be compared with other animal groups. Subjects covered will also include: consequences of different reproductive strategies for the early life stages, adaptation to different environments and environmental requirements and sensitivity to external factors. All subjects are discussed in the light of adaptation to cultivation. The course runs every second year, 2011, 2013.
Learning outcome
On completion of the course, students should be familiar with the embryology and early life history of fish, the reproductive biology, as well as understand the functional development, environmental requirements and environmental adaptations of different types of embryonic and larval fish development.
