Course content
This course provides a more comprehensive introduction to texts from important 'schools' of modern literary theory, such as Hermeneutics, Formalism, New Criticism, Structuralism, Psychoanalysis, Feminism, Deconstruction and Post Colonialism.
The course may also emphasize basic matters of aesthetic and literary theory, for example the concepts mimesis, the author, or literary symbolism.
Learning outcome
The course will provide students with a more comprehensive introduction to texts from the canon of modern literary theory and develop their insight into basic matters of aesthetic and literary theory.
Learning methods and activities
Lectures/seminar with written assignment. Active student participation is expected.
Course requirements:
Approved reading list and compulsory written assignment (approx. 2-3 pages).
