About the course

Course content

A preparatory course and an introduction to the Master's thsis. The students will be introduced to the formal and technical elements that are required in a Master's thesis. The students will also be given the opportunity to present and discuss their own ideas and texts. The student must give an oral presentation (or get permission from the teacher to write an assignment instead).During the course, the students must produce a (minimum) 1-page draft of the planned content of their Master's thesis or present an excerpt from the thesis itself. We wish that the students participate in this seminar minimum two semesters.

Learning outcome

The course will support the student's work with the Master's thesis, and will provide a broader insight into relevant areas of knowledge relevant for this kind of academic work.

Learning methods and activities

Seminar. Active student participation is excpected.

Required coursework: oral presentation in the seminar (or written assignment, after teacher's permission).

Asessment: Approved project outline (minimum 1 page).

Specific conditions

Admission to a programme of study is required:
Allmenn litteraturvitenskap (MALIT)

Required previous knowledge

Bachelor degree in comparative literature or other equivalent education and the student must be admitted to the Master's programme in Comparative Literature.
