About

About the course

Course content

The course deals with and develops those aspects of Norwegian as a second langauge that are difficult from a second language perspective. Norwegian is described from a cross- and multilinguistic perspective. A systematic and typological description of global languages, as well as Norwegian from a contrastive perspective in relation to significant minority languages is emphasised.

Interlanguages as a concept is emphasised, along with an introduction to the linguistic background for this concept.

Learning outcome

The course will provide a basic knowledge of Norwegian from a second language perspective. Moreover, the course will give insight into cross-language aspects, and show how these aspects may influence minority language speakers' learning of Norwegian. The students will develop proficiency in language analyses of interlanguages, and learn about the connection between interlanguages on the one hand and language aquisition and language instruction on the other.

Learning methods and activities

Lectures and group instruction.

All compulsory activities must be submitted and approved before the student is permitted to take the written examination. The scope of the submitted written material should be 5-7 pages each (A4 pages, 1,5 spacing).
