Individual course under tuition
About
About the course
Course content
Starting point: The course presupposes a specialization in verbal communication, and it is an advantage if the students have completed the first term of their masters degree in advance. Content: The tutored individual topic is meant for subjects that are outside the scope of the normal teaching offers of the institute, and thus the content may vary. One of the teachers at the institute works out a general description of the course in consultation with the students. This description gives an account of the subject of the studies and of who will be responsible for the subject. This plan has to be approved by the institute during the semester before the course starts. A more specific plan that states objectives, content and curriculum is worked out during the start of the semester, in collaboration between teacher and students.
Learning outcome
The course will provide academic specialization in a limited field supplementing the regular course offers at the institute. The study will normally be relevant for the master's thesis. The students will also get experience with oral presentation to a group of listeners.
Learning methods and activities
Tutored individual topic.
More on assessment: Obligatory plan description has to be approved before the candidate can take the oral exam. The size of this plan description must be between 3-5 typed A4-pages (line spacing 1.5). The exam is an oral presentation in the form of a lecture/seminar contribution for 20-30 minutes, with a paper for support. The papers for support have to be submitted the day before the student holds his/her presentation.
