About the course

Course content

The topic is given every second year, but can be given every year for the minimum of 3 participants. Dynamic presentation of geographic data. Methods for animations and cartographic animations. Transmission of geographic information on WWW. WMS and WFS. Web cartography. Visualization of non-spatial data. Spatial databases. Data structures and algorithms for storage, analysis and visualization of 3D data. It will give some introduction to recent research within GISc.

Learning outcome

The topic gives a thorough introduction to various techniques for storage and presentation of geographic information in a computer-based environment, and in the use of Internet to communicate this information. In addition the student will get an overview non recent research.

Learning methods and activities

Study group and self-tution. The lectures and exercises are in English when students who do not speak Norwegian take the course.

Required previous knowledge

The subject is based on TBA4250 Geographic Information Handling 2 or similar.
