Course content
The course gives an introduction about fundamental motor principles associated with the control of movement, learning, development, and ageing. Themes that are taken up include discrete and cyclical movements, traditional and modern models of explanation, the effect of training and experience, and the transfer of learning effects. In addition to lectures, practical activities, observations, and demonstrations will be used to illustrate the theoretical perspectives.
Learning outcome
Students will acquire fundamental knowledge about motor control, motor learning, and motor development from a behavioural perspective. Students will also learn about changes in motor control, performance ability, and learning ability with ageing.
Learning methods and activities
42 hours lectures/exercises/group work. The course is reserved for students admitted to the major in Human Movement and Sports Science. Exchange students interested in the course must consult the Department for possible admission.
Compulsory assignments
- 70% participation in exercises.
